The Confederate bayonet scabbard pictured here is the rarest of enlistedmens accoutrements. I assume that is because it served no post-war purpose, it wasnt something special at the time, such as a sword or gun to be put away to show the grandchildren. How this one survived I dont know; but it remains in near mint condition. 100% of the leather is intact, 100% of the stitching is intact and the lead finial is in place and tight. The scabbard sheathes a captured US bayonet. It is clear that the bayonet is original to the scabbard. This is the very finest!
