     The sword belt pictured here is unique.  It was altered for use by a left handed or one armed man.  It would not have been practical to wear the sword on the right side, even if the officer was left handed because it would have been very difficult to mount a horse while wearing it.

     The belt has a fine patent leather outer shell wrapped around a web belt to give it strength.  There are no weak places in the belt.  It is strong and supple enough to mount on a mannequin and support a sword.

     This is the actual belt shown on page 34 of Collecting the Confederacy.
