This is perhaps the most desirable of all Confederate States belt plates because of its beautiful design. The eleven stars, surrounding the letters CS represent eleven Southern States. It is without a doubt one of the most attractive of the Confederate belt plates. It is one of the most widely reproduced Confederate belt plates because of its extreme desirability and value. Many, if not most, of this pattern must be passed over because of the chance that it may be a forgery. The example shown here is one that has everything a collector could want. It has just enough ground action to readily convince even the most discriminating dealer or collector that there is no doubt that it is authentic. It has a slight twist, but is otherwise perfect in every regard. Its history is also well known and recorded. It was excavated by Randy Harville, just outside Franklin, Tennessee. Also, a photo of it and its history is published in North South Trader’s Price Guide, 11th Edition. It has no repairs or alterations; it is just as it was when it was excavated. This is the best! |
