The Confederate two piece sword belt buckle shown here is listed in Steve Mullinax’s, Confederate Belt Buckles and Plates as a rarity 8 buckle. This well defined pattern is extremely rare and is seldom encountered in any condition. It is even rarer to find one in such good condition and to find one where the patina’s match so perfectly. I feel sure that they were excavated together. |
