     This is a super crisp clear ninth plate ruby ambrotype of a young Confederate Colonel.  It is hard to imagine that he could command the respect of 800 or more men, but this young soldier wears a coat with three stars on the collar; that of a Confederate Colonel.  Young though he is, the firm set of his jaw and the cold steely eyes demonstrate his determination.  Such steel is rarely seen in one so young. The young Colonel has the look of a Forrest or a Quantrill. 

     The photographer has tinted his entire face, giving it a sunburned look. It is housed in a full case.

     He must have been a remarkable man and it is a shame that his name and fame have been lost to history; if anyone reading this recognizes him or his uniform please let me know so that he may receive the credit that he deserves.
