The saber bayonet adapter shown here was made in Richmond, Virginia by Boyle, Gamble & MacFee for the Confederate Government. The adapter allowed B, G & M’s saber bayonet to be used with most arms. Usually when these are found there is staining around the locking screw hole and the screw has to be drilled. The soldier who used this had lost the screw prior to losing the adapter, so it does not have any of the unsightly rust stains around the locking screw. A modern screw was inserted into the hole and it would work as well today as when it was new. The B, G & M Richmond, Va. mark is present, but weak.
